Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy', commonly known as Eastern Redbud 'Forest Pansy', is a small deciduous tree with a compact, rounded crown. It is prized for its beautiful, purple-red foliage, which emerges in early spring and gradually turns green as the season progresses. The leaves are heart-shaped and slightly glossy, providing an attractive backdrop for the delicate pink or purple-pink flowers that bloom in clusters all over the tree before the leaves appear.

'Forest Pansy' is a slow-growing tree that typically reaches a height of 20 to 30 feet and a spread of 15 to 25 feet. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, but it is tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions. It is also fairly drought-tolerant once established.

This tree is an excellent choice for small gardens or as a specimen tree. It is also commonly used as an accent tree, in woodland gardens, or in mixed borders. The colorful foliage and spring flowers provide a beautiful show that is sure to be admired by all who see it.
